Got here after a 19 hour journey

Last time I was in the U.S I found a website that showed the positions of trains on the Pacific Coast line but I cant remember what it was.

    Anybody got any idea?

Hi Kev, welcome. Hope you have a fun holiday. Don't know what you mean by "Pacific Coast Line", but maybe this Amtrak Status Map tracks it.

Click on an area, rest the cursor on your train number, then click. The result will give you past and current status of that train. Also the scheduled (not ETA) time for the next stations.

This is Amtrak's Track Your Train Map. I've never used it, but it shows current delay to schedule and ETAs for future stations. It doesn't show numbers for most trains, just arrows where they are currently. Apparently Amtrak expects you to know where you train should be in the country. Not really helpful for me who grew up 2500 miles from the West Coast, let alone a lad from Yorkshire.

Since 9/11 a lot of stuff has disappeared from the 'Net. Some almost immediately, others came along slowly, later. :(
