ideas for my layout (once i get train set)

Dont know if I should've put this here or layout design area. But here are some ideas I thought of for the new layout:

1. 3 track mainline (2 active 1 being taken out by MOW....with weeds on sides of rails for #3 track)

2. brush paint the #3 track all brown (but leave ties on the areas that have been taken out)

3. a small industrial area

4. 6 track yard (for now)

will add more when i think of them

 

your points 1 and 2 sounds very interesting! It's not often modelled.

looks like you've got some great ideas. I think the abandoned track would be a great thing to model.

How about this scene of an abandoned spur to the old mine. A tree has fallen across the track years ago.

 

I've been flirting with the idea to do the abandoned track thing, but couldn't think of how to do it.
