I was bored and looking at ICG's unique SD40A (an SD40 on an SDP45 frame to get a huge fuel tank--ICG was the only buyer and rostered under 20 of the long units) and found a photo of their only SD45, #7000. Any reasons why they onlybought one? They served the coal industry, so those monsters would have been great in that service. Any reasons why they only rostered one (the first demo SD45 ever built, BTW)?

She sure is striking in clean ICG orange.

Because the C-636 produced the same horsepower and used less fuel?

An interesting discussion here. I never knew that the IC owned either of these models!

That is random, they bought only one SD45, but six of the Alco C636's.

And so as to not shun GE in the six axle arena, they ten owned U33Cs, bought new in 1968. [Not my photo]

Didn't IC also have some C-630 units?
