Beacons from Shapeways Here's the stain I used. One or two drops to a small paint bottle of alcohol. It's very concentrated and it seems to have stained into the material. I'm sure there are other ways to do this also.
Very cool!! That works! I am glad that you're happy and using that stain really gave it a neat effect plus if you were to widen the pilot hole and put a light in there I bet it would pass through with no problems and look really slick!! Thank you for the pictures. I have been really sick the past week so I haven't put much effort into my SW stuff but now that I'm almost back to 100% I will be hitting it again and hopefully getting those SP lights done.
Got my stain today and did all my beacons......very sweet! Thanks again Craig! Now I need to finish the engines on my work bench so I can start on a Santa Fe unit and get one mounted. (I am sure I can find a few that need a beacon!)
Holy cow! If I could make that I would buy a few myself! Maybe when I get a little better lol. I have been working on a few things but I only get a few minutes here and there. We are counting down the last week and a half before FINALS WEEK!! I have been cramming like crazy for the end of semester tests and the dreaded finals. I will have a 3 week break in between semesters and hope to play catch-up and a lot of the projects I have going. Sorry I haven't put out anything new lately. I will try to get caught up soon.
Saw that car as it arrived in Denver, for the Suncor refinery in Commerce City. A runnable version would be neat! Or, a runnable version of the Westinghouse car that Overland Models did. I'd run mine at shows, but I have a dead short in mine! Not sure why either!
Yeah, I chased that one when it came by here after they unloaded it at the Port of Houston. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/cat/709
