    Hi all,

I have recently acquired a P2K SW8 and would like to put in a Tsunami sound decoder in it. Has anyone done this installation before or have tips on how to make it fit? There is not a whole lot of room, but I know Soundtraxx has been coming out with smaller versions of their decoders in recent years. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

If you go to my website (link below) and follow the links for Model Railroading and then HO Locomotives, the 3rd to 16 pics (Labelled P2k SW1200 sound 0 ... 12) with their text descriptions show how I put an older unit (Soundtraxx DSD90) into an SW9/1200 model. I'd guess the SW8 is similar.
It's not easy and not long after that BLI brought out factory fitted versions of this type of loco, so I bought one of them for my second unit :embarassed:

Here is a direct link. Don't forget to try to posting the DCC forum. There may be some who do not read the other forums.

There are three types of similar SoundTraxx decoders now. The shrink wrapped sound decoder, the light board without shrink wrap and the new small, NON-sound decoders that are shrink wrapped..
I use the first two, depending on the loco. Light board sound decoder only for diesels.

The new ones will have the Tsunami characteristics to make consisting easier with the Tsunami sound decoders. Some people want sound in only one loco with the non sound having a compatible decoder. Some non sound decoders do not consist well with the Tsunami sound decoders.
Do a Google search for SoundTraxx decoders. Not sure if the Powers To Be will like a direct link here.
I use Litchfield Station for all my DCC stuff. Free shipping over $75. Quick response and they answer emails. Do a Gggole search for Litchfield.
