I need some advice if you have tiime, please. Learning a little this week about managing and posting RI images, I just tried to incllude 4 shots in a post to this week's Weekend Photo Fun thread. No go - evidently, each time I copied an URL from My Photos and tried to paste it into the Reply window's "postcard", it deleted or blocked the previous photo that I thought I'd pasted in. When I sent the reply, I got only the last 1 of my 4 photos. Am I leaving out a step that links multiple shots?

    Thanks for your help.

I use the IMG tags. I type [img ] (leave out the space between the g ]), paste in the direct link (the http:/www line) and follow it up with [/img ], so an example would be like this:

    [IMG ]http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/forum-1/P1010001-55.jpg[/IMG ]

If I take out the spaces that are in the brackets this happens:

This forum limits me to four per post but on other forums I can put in as many as I want.

Scott, Jeff has given good advice. Using the [img ] thingy accomplishes the very same thing as the postcard icon. I can't understand why you can't post multiple images. Are you using a separate postcard for each image? When I post multiples, I usually do something like:
    text text text (return)
postcard (or use [img +URL) (return)
more text (optional, but if you don't put any in, I suggest a double (return) so that a space shows up between the images)
    postcard (return)
and so on up to the four image maximum

There may also be a limit to how much memory can be included in a single post, I honestly can't remember. It should say so on Railimages. If your four images together exceed that limit, it will fail. Try two or three images and see what happens.

My guess is that you somehow have your previous image highlighted in the post when you go to make the second post and that will cause the second image to replace the first rather than create a second image in the post.

Suggestion, after you get the first image posted put a couple of blank lines below the image before you post the next image.

    Down, Cursor, get down!

Thank you - all 3 of you for good advice. Yeah, I seem to be replacing 1 with the next so that I can only have 1. I'm wondering - after copying the URL from R. click Properties, I left the URL highlighted. I'll try that.

In the meantiime, I can't for the life of me put the cursor at the bottom of the image - it keeps bounciing to the top of the image. With or without the move/resize box around the image. Fitz, to do text between the 1st and 2nd but pertaining to the 2nd, do you just simply put the cursor between and type away?

I actualy did the above from Edit Post (hoping to clean up the mess and avoid doing a separate post for the other 3 images). Maybe that's part of my uncooperative cursor problem - maybe Edit doesn't like me messing around with already-posted images. Think I'll go have dinner, then try again.

Does it make any sense to you that the cursor won't position at the bottom? There just isn't room between the image and scroll bar.

    Thanks! Scott

Once you have completed all the steps to insure that the image is in your message, the cursor should appear after the image. If it isn't, you are missing a step somewhere. I know when I go off the message, such as to look in RI, sometimes when I come back the cursor isn't where I left it. If you can't drag it to then end of what you have already done, try using the right arrow key to move it. Almost forgot to answer your question, yes, just get the cursor past your photo, hit return to get below it, and add text.

Edit--I looked at your gallery and the file sizes are right in line, should not be a problem at all. BTW, with my "handle" you might guess I really like your Hudsons. Those are some cool pix. I assume the (Chrysler?) with the suicide doors must be a railfan, chasing your trains. Neat idea.

    How post multiple images?

Jeffrey, Fitz and Stourbridge, thanks for walking me through putting multiple images into my posts - I just had good luck editing the 'missing' 3 images into my original post. Basically, I was making multiple errors and getting rattled. The stoo-pid-est thing I was doing was trying to put my cursor at the bottom L. of the image. As you know, it wants to go to the bottom R. Then, I was getting lost, running back and forth between TB and RI to find and copy URLs. Easier - go to My Photos only once, copy one URL, pencil down the other 3, go to TB and open a Reply (or Edit Reply), postcard, Ctrl V, adjust URL and Okay for image, return, text, return, postcard, Ctrl V again, but replace the photo name in the last URL, Okay for image and repeat 2 more times for total 4 images. Slick!

Oh, yeah, now I'm dangerous! Just watch them megabites go down!

Thanks again for your help, Guys!

Fitz, we just crossed - sorry. Good news - iit seems to have worked for me. I owe you guys - thank you.

Ye know, I've been aware of your handle, but I forgot my Hudsons. Absolutely my best runners - I hope you have one or two. I spent a year in Syracuse - I'm a NYC fan, too.

No, actually my Grandpa's '40 Ford. Mart used to travel old Highway 99, selling products out of the trunk. Traveling with him during school breaks gave me my love for the Siskiyou - Shasta country.

When you get to a point that you can post 4 Thumbnails that can be clicked on is when you have 100% mastered everything there is to know about posting images.

    [IMG] - [IMG] - [IMG] - [IMG]

Trust me, not that many folks here do this but it's another way to post images that load faster for folks on dial-up and still tells the story you want to express.

hmmm...yes, I can see where that would be valuable. For all the help you guys gave me with images, I owe giving it a try. Think I'll wait a few days till I have 4 related worthwhile photos. Thanks for the challenge.
