Hi everbody, Just wondering how the new Pacific Surfliners were doing? Are they having the magic as the Talgo's? (Ridership up nearly 18% over the preevious annum). Here at the Santa Ana depot, they cut Amtrak personnel to just one, and the talk is that they will close the ticket window at the next schedule change. Apparently, the theory is that riders will take the Metrolink commuter trains to LA and transfer to Amtrak there. It's a joke to see them close the ticket window five minutes before the train arrives so the ticket clerk - baggage handler - wheelchair elevator opperator (all one person) can get out to the platform. The first stage of the transition went into effect this month. Amtrak and Metrolink tickets are now interchangeable on the parallel route. Ed Harrison ------------------ Ed's Mental Cab Ride
Ed, Actually, the Amtrak California Pacific Surfliners are the newwest equipment for Amtrak, therefore I have to disagree with what you said that the equipment is old with a blue bumper sticker on the sides, that is undoubtedly is not true! I have been on the new Pacific Surfliner and in fact that equipment is allot nicer than the old red, white and blue on all of the othewr equipment Thank You Brad Chamberlain Amtrak California Railfan
