Greetings from Iowa, Quick intro. I model Rock Island in the last years in HO scale. That odd time period when old and new diesel era clash as well as the cars in train. Best of the past and all of the new. I do work for BNSF but don't mix work and model railroading. Work is work! As a railroad man I am VERY involved with the craft and the organization representing it and therefore need the distance in the hobby from the real deal. I do like the heritage stuff on the rails today as well as short line goings on and welcome conversation on the subject. Please don't drag me into BNSF issues. I reside in rural Iowa and look forward to membership in this railfan group. Seasons Greetings, Grunt
Hi Grunt, Welcome to a membership comprising mostly all "Grunts" from a wide spectrum of professions; military, industrial, commercial, active and retired. Though we all have one thing in common, we Love Trains.
Welcome aboard...totally get the notion of not wanting to talk shop in free time. And I get the idea of reaching back to a different time, as my avatar may indicate.
Me and Grunt went to hoghead school at Overload Park KS, a few years ago now Glad to hear from you and welcome aboard Brathaaa. Looking FWD to seeing some MRR pics!
Welcome aboard, Grunt! Like you, I love the older days of railroading, before megamergers and GE technotoasters by the thousands. In my perfect world, it's all D&RGW, all EMD up to 1987 . Not a GE to be seen, except for the odd BN coal runthru. We have a fairly active fallen flags group, a very active model railroading group and a bunch of us that like photography (myself included).
