I joined this board maybe a year ago; but, don't remember if I ever introduced myself. I live in Park Rapids, Minnesota, the town closest to the Headwaters of the Mississippi River. I am a lone wolf modeler and my interest is in Modeling (building Models) I have very few RTR freight cars as I am just not interested in RTR. I want my layout to be something that I have built as I have a bunch of pride in that fact. I model the Northern Pacific in 1953, during the transition. Last week, from the 8th of September 2019 to the 11th. I attended the Northern Pacific Railway Historical Convention which was located in Brainerd Minnesota. My layout is down in the dungeon. It is a three times around loop with many Bridges, Tunnels and Trestles. I would say that it is probably about 66% finished with scenery. I started this layout in 1989, so the layout is now 30 years old. Where I to start over again, I would model in Sn3 and model the Rio Grande Southern in Colorado. A few years ago we took a ride on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge RR and I became fascinated with K-27 Mud Hens and Narrow Gauge. Sn3 would fit my needs for a scale which for the most part needs to be Kit or scratch built as there is no; or, very little RTR stuff for it, except locomotives!
Welcome to TrainBoard! Those Colorado narrow gauge operations are something akin to the old sailors tales about sirens trying to lure them onto the rocks and shores.
Welcome to Trainboard. I too long to model southern Colorado narrow gauge. One of these days I will build my layout.
