Good afternoon I am trying to locate the time period correct Z scale locco for a new layout I am designing. I have spent hours trawling the internet and have seen some fantastic items on z-panzer but need a British locco or military train and wanted to know if anyone can point me in the right direction? Thanks for any help Regards Gary

Hi, Gary Have you checked the Marklin catalog? If anyone has such a loco I would think they would. There is a German language publication called "Koll's Preis-Katalog. It catalogs all Marklin locos and rolling stock including special runs. My copy is from 1996. There may be a later version. Good Luck. Jim

    Hi Gary

Yes.. I do know a bit about Bitish Z.

There is nothing ready to run I'm afraid but there is a growing selection of 3S printed bodies designed to drop straight onto slightly modified Marklin chassis

LMS Patriot 4-6-0 (Advertised as a Royal Scot) Ivan body on Marklin P8 4-6-0

GWR 0-6-0ST in Brass. Again one of Ivan's designed to go onto Maaklin BR 89. I'm still working this one out

LNER A3 (Flying Scotsman) converted from Atlas editions collectables and sat on Marklin S3.6 4-6-2 chassis. behind the whitemetal A4 ( From the late Graham Jones) is one of the LNER Coaches that come with the Atlas LNER Locos. This one has been repainted in BR Maroon but as supplied they have the correct teak finish

    Now a proper WW2 engine

WD Austerity 2-10-0. 3D printed by Ivan in either plastic or brass and sat on Marklin BR 50 chassis

These can be painted in war department livery. Mine is post war british rail colours but is far too clean!

Introduced in the war years Oliver Bulleids extraordinary streamlined Southern railway 4-6-2s. This is an Atlas one with the Golden Arrow heraldry removed and seen with the Pullman coaches

Another nailed on 'Right Un' The USATC 0-6-0T built in numbers for the european war theatre.

Ivan body on marklin BR 89 chassis

We have got a couple of these still preserved in the U.K

Typical British Industrial 0-6-0T. Ivan again avaiable in brass or plastic on BR 89 chassis. Slightly overscale but no-one notices. mine is in NCB livery but plain black would do as well

I will sort out a section on British goods wagons correct for the period shortly.

However. If you want armoured trains Google 'Z-panzer' and look at Andy's stuff. I've had all sorts of stuff off him. Shermans, GMC 6x6 trucks etc. They are superb!

If you are tempted to have a go there is probaly a thread of mine somewhere and a lot of my stuff is in the 'Whats on my workbench?' thread on this forum. I'm more than happy to give you advice.

I don't normally put links to other sites but you might find what we do on Flickr on the British Z gauge group useful
