Name is Mike and I am in central Florida. I am a railfan but I freelance model Seaboard Airline and Atlantic Coast line 5 years either way of the merger. I grew up, and still live in Bone Valley where the phosphate industry boomed. My interests naturally follow what I remember seeing on rail as a kid. SCL was transfering to The Family Lines System when I was able to totally understand train operation and what was going on. I am about to start a new layout. It will be a h/c door that includes a 1x6 shelf 3/4 way around my office to another 2x3 (+/-) loop to complete the return main. I have most of the motive power I want and still adding the stock. I don't have the $$$ right now to throw at a DCC system so I will be using MRC 2800 dual power and old school switches. It'll be fun and I am looking forward to getting it going. I made the switch from HO to N based on the space requirements and have been pleased with the move. There aren't as many choices in N as there are in HO, but that seems to be changing. Any other Seaboard/ACL/SCL folks around? Look forward to meeting everyone and thanks for your time, Mike. Friends call me Red.
Welcome Red, I'm a Midwest modeller, but have done some work for a CRR friend. You'll find some great ideas on this page. Let us know how we can help you, Thanks, Karl
Welcome aboard, Red. I'm an N-scaler (since 1971) and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. My son just got a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 in SAL livery yesterday, so there's at least one option for you. I'm also limited to DC and old-school switches, but won't let that hold me back from having fun. Hope to see you around here.
Red- Welcome to TrainBoard! Yes. There are ACL/SAL fans here. Be sure to check our Fallen Flag Forum for those railroads.
