There is activity. I can hear the wistle. I still haven't been able to get up there to check it out though. On a different note: We are in the middle of one of the weirdest summers I have seen in my 9 years up here. It has rained almost every day this month. And I don't mean those short afternoon burst like we usually get. There have been several days when it rained all day. It is very unusual. If I hear one more person say, "We can use the moisture," I'll slap him silly. I don't know what all this moisture is going to due to the track on the Loop. Hopefully nothing. But when a lot of water is mixed with sandy desert type soil, bad things can happen. Especially when that soil is on a 45 deg. incline. The rain is also one of the reasons I haven't been up there. Because of all the rain, I found a leak in my roof that was causing some serious damage to my cedar siding. I have been working on getting that taken care of before winter. I think I sometimes take for granted that it is so close. Eric
Lisa & I might get up that way today... If we do I will let you know what I see... :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: EDIT: Sorry, we didn't make it up to Georgetown this weekend
We rode the train on Labor Day C&S #9 did the down hill duties alone but Diesel #21 assisted on the way back up. They had a very full loads all day on Monday which is good news for the Loop as well as Georgetown.
#21 When I rode in one of the open cars in the snow/sleet last Friday, I was impressed with how they've tuned #21's exhaust note. In the snow/sleet conditions, pulling back uphill to Silver Plume, unless you were in the car immediately behind #21 and you were specifically listening for #21, it didn't distract from the chuff of #9 working the grade. Well done! ...Karl
Photos of No 9 In case anyone missed them, I posted some photos of No. 9 working the GLRR in this thread: Georgetown Loop C&S No. 9 Back In Action
