    HI Guys:

IM getting closer to starting landscaping on my layout -- Id like to know what your procedure is for starting with a raw plaster surface (Im planning on tinting mine to match the ground) -- ive heard and seen a lot of stuff -- im modeling around alamosa and monte vista Colorado, so dry, dusty etc -- im planning on the lower portion being late summer and the upper reaches being fall with the aspens in bloom. I am planning to build a static grass applicator, so I'll have that available

Also -- anyone have a good suggestion for sagebrush???

SO how do you do it?????

    TIM

Find a good source of a very fine sand or a very fine ground foam to use as the base. A light earth color would be appropriate for the San Luis Valley. Paver lock sand is a potential start. Sift it with various superfine screens, it has a adhesive built in. See more here: https://www.trainboard.com/highball...inter-layout-party.135226/page-7#post-1165388

I would use ground foam as sagebrush. I find that material doesn't approximate to grass very well, but will work well for brush. A bit of static grass will work well for the arid country weeds found in the San Luis Valley before you get to the high elevations. Use a variety of colors of ground foam--in N scale, the "fine" size would be about right for sagebrush.
