    Hahaha! Sounds good to me!

I'm kind of afraid of Montana though, the presence of all those trees just makes me think "oh man boy am I gonna have to fill a large special order...."

We gotta find someone else to do Montana...

in orther model RR news, soon I will have the pleasure of adding 2 more sd40-2's to the milw roster. hmmm now which numbers do I want to make these.....

No more trees than across Snoqualmie Pass!

How about removing the Billboard lettering? Number a few in the first order series 30xx?

When I modeled the Milw. in N, I had 2 of the 40-2's and used an eraser to take off the billboard on the sides and nose. Looked better that way.

hmmm interesting. I have always used rubbing aclohol to remove numbers. maybe I'll give that a try.

I have been renumbering my milw sd40-2's based on loco's I have seen in pictures from Kittitas to Moses Lake and I have seen a few without the lettering. might do some of those then maybe...

    Greg-

I don't think you'd see any 40 Dash 2's on the branch to Moses Lake. Am certain you are referring to the Othello- Warden area?

Well yes now ken has me on a technicality. I sure the dash 2's continued onto what they called the gap after Othello. I believe in mosey, I have seen pictures of either a GP9 and also an GP20, I think...So I should probably try to find myself one of those as well.

However, I also have a bunch of pics showing sd40-2's lashed up with some U33's. So I might need to get some of those too for the Saddles!

    My roster consists so far:
    SD40-2's
21, 28, 149, 160, and 136 (Beverly helper). I'm thinking of adding 25 to one of my new ones. But have not made up my mind on the others.

    I would like to do
23, 24, 25, 157 (Beverly helper). But the idea of having some non-letter units sounds cool too. I have a pic showing 164 and 157 without lettering.

But now because of ken I have to find myself a GP unit! hahaha. Just joking, I'm glad I have someone like yourself that can set me straight, after all it is a prototypical layout.

here's a pic I took that I thought looked cool.
hard to tell here, but I reworked the landscaping on the west corner of the trestle near the curve. I didn't think it looked right so I torn into it and re-carved the foam. not that anyone could really tell in this pic, I just thought the pic came out kind of cool!

Oh yeah am also expecting a milw bay window caboose to show up in the mail soon!!! It's just a regular steel bay window milw type, but it is perfect for my era. :D

Next week I'm off to 'ground zero' to collect dirt and ballast so I get the scenery finished! God I hope the pass is not covered in snow!

I also remembered that I took the two halves of the frame apart and shortend the fuel tank, and the plastic fuel tank parts as well. :D A little weathering, they looked good! [IMG] Too bad the guy I sold them to, turned them into MRL units!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Greg-

Life Like has an excellent Milw SD7 available right now. The SD7 and 9 were very common power up Moses Lake way. There were also a few SD10, and GP9 units used. If a GP20 showed up, it would have been very late in the life. Likely 1979-1980.

:D Yup. I've sold him an engine or two. And bought from him as well. You're right. He's an excellent custom painter. Used to run into him all the time, when Karl had King Street Station open.

Ken can I come through for you or what!!!

Below is a copy of the message Pam (person in charge of the coming exhibit) sent me.

    "Greg,

As it so happens, I'm secretary of Historic Ellensburg. Our group has been the main catalyst in trying to obtain the Northern Pacific Depot from the 3 owners who let it sit and rot for several years. Just last Monday, the Ellensburg City Council announced at the City Council Meeting that it had been successful in convincing the owners to sell the Depot to the City. The contract has been signed. The City will fullfil its end of the deal by repairing the roof of the building. Upon completion of damage repair, the City will then sign the building over to Historic Ellensburg. At that time we will begin renovation of the building. I'm hoping that an architect's rendering of the restored depot will be available for the Heritage Center Display over Labor Day. Historic Ellensburg has a Depot Committee already at work. You can let your Railroad friends know that the Northern Pacific Depot in Ellensburg will be historically restored to its previous grandeur. We are most proud to undertake this activity. "

maybe I should paste this into the NP forum as well...

The few photos I have seen show nothing bigger than a GP9 on the line into Moses Lake, but the Branch to Marcellus seemed to be able to support SD7/9/10s.

Be sure to invest in a supply of weeds instead of trees.

you there is some much to do and make sure I cover. thank god I have people who know the area well that can keep me on track! haha

the heritage center asked me to try and create a 'sort of logo' for this years event. They wanted something that would showcase the NP depot and Milw depot in Ellensburg. So below is what I came up with in a matter of 30 mins. Nothing finalized but just a ruff idea. In fact they may not even use this as there are also others proposing ideas. The title of the event also is not finalized.
The signage will be displayed at the front of building when visitor's first walk in. It is supposed to be about 8 feet tall and 12 or more feet long. So she wanted a good first impression for those who walk through. what do you guys think?
