    Greg
I have been looking at ths forum and seeing your progress on Renslow, all I have to say is WOW! I am an N scaler myself in the Seattle area. Are you in Seattle too or are you from eastern Washington? I belong to the UNW and have a gentleman in my club that is a big MILW nut. I am looking forward to seeing your progress on Beverly. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the comments. I currently live in University Place, Wa near Tacoma. However, during the school year I live in Seattle because I attend the University of Washington. So only on weekends I head back home, where the layout is. However, I would love to live in Eastern Wa, sometime in the future.

You may be speaking of Peter Kim? I have talked with him a few times via email. I know he is the crazy nut that painted some fantasy SD90MAC's or 70MAC's in the milw scheme. haha. I had just talked with David from the group about the possibility of coming down to the June event and running some trains with the group. He said it was not finalized yet but would keep me posted.

Which member are you, as I have not learned you name?

Yes it is Peter Kim that I am talking about. As far as I know it has been finalized for the show in June at Puyallup at least that is what out club president said.
My name is Ryan Aust. I am one of the newer members in the club but no stranger to the guys. I have been attending shows in the area with my dad since I was 4. If you look in the Monroe, Wa forum in the N scale section I got my mug shot taken working on what is described as track pieces but I am actually working on the New Rail models log scaling platform.
I model NP/GN around the merger era and love logging operation. I am surrently building a log yard/sawmill for the UNW on the new moduals. I am also building several of the buidlings that will be part of Enumclaw on Keith Lyons' NP Tacoma division.
I am currently building a layout in my house and in my office I am planning on building the town of Morton which was the furthest point on the Tacoma & Eastern branch of the Milwaukee. I will try to post photos as I have them available on my progress.

Cool! Did you see the N scale thread that Greg O posted all the photos to a few days ago? I used to share tables at those swaps with Kirk Reddie, and a couple other long time friends. They were a lot of fun to attend. That "big MILW nut" must be Peter K? Tell him I said hello.... Any news on Keith's NP layout progress?

Keith is working away like a mad man on his NP layout. If you ever pick up N scale Railroader he has articles in it quite often. Remember when IM came out with their NP north coast limited F-3's and there was a picture of them taken on the steel viaduct? That is kind of the centerpiece of Keiths layout. His layout is 24x36 and no I not talking about inches. When you first walk up the stairs into the train room the first thing you will see on the left right behind the operators desk is Enumclaw. I am doing most of the town of Enumclaw. As you walk through the doorway into the layout you see about 3/4 of the way back the viaduct all landscaped and almost done except for alot of trees. And boy does Keith need alot of them. He is currently working on Eagle Gorge with the 3 bridges and tunnels prior to the re-grade. I think after he completes Eagle Gorge it will be off to work on the Stampede tunnel which I layed all the track in (not fun by the way) since I am the smallest one on the work crew. Borup loop and Stampede should go fairly quickly as the rough shell and rails are down and all bus & feeder wires are in place on the mainline. Last time I was there he still had just rail at Easton and Martin and no scenery yet. I asked Keith when Auburn will be built he figures in about 1-2 years. His layout goes from Auburn all the way to Easton, and has all the branchlines to Redmond, Bellevue, Woodinville and Sumas in it. Oh yeah by the way not only is it 24x36 it is also double decked! And your truly is doing most of the wiring on it.

I was last there, when he was just starting to mock up some benchwork. Yes. I did see that photo in NSR. (Am subscriber #14.) If doing Enumclaw, as the NP reached that town from the north via trackage rights over some Milw, maybe you can wiggle in some black and orange power! Ha ha.

Haven't been back in the area since Spring of 1999. Wanted to come to Monroe this year. But not enough spare capital to get there. Would have taken Amtrak to Everett, and rented a car. But...

If you are a NPRHA member you may know a member of my family. Do you know Dennis Aust? He has done several NP articles mainly in minline modeler. He is my dads cousin.

Am familiar with the name. But that's all.

Had to be a bit of a fan. For many years, I lived close by, or next to the NP line through that valley.

You know I have thought about plotting out and doing to scale if you are intersted in incorporating it into your layout McClellans butte on snoqualmie pass if you are interested let me know.

    Thanks guys!
When I transported the three sections outside for painting (painted the edges of each section to give it a nice finish) the landscaping color looked great in the natural sun light. I am wondering what kind of lights replicate natural sun light without putting off too much heat. Don't want to melt the train as it passes by! [IMG]

Well my work on this section is almost complete with the exception of a few minor details. I plan to have this landscape of 13 feet done by the end of May. So on with the next phase.

Because of popular demand, encouragement from my fellow trainboarders, and threats from Ken (haha just kidding ken), I am currently getting ready to place orders on parts, lots of parts, for building something very big. As soon as the university lets out this second project will be in full swing.

Ryan, I am not too familiar with the area you mention. Maybe you can contact me through a pm about it. If it is a part of the Milw ROW then this is what I have to say!

Your idea about incorporating another piece of Milw ROW sounds interesting. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but as they say the more the merrier! I have had a couple of other people mention the same idea, however you are the first to begin on west. I have had others say they will begin on the east side of me and we should all work towards each other. This indeed would call for a huge milw enthusiast meet somewhere large where we could set this up. haha! Overall I think this idea is a possibility in the near further. If you do decide to build it be sure to keep us all informed here. We all love to see what other modelers are doing…especially if it’s Milwaukee related! [IMG]

    Greg-

You might want to ask someone at your favorite camera shop. Am sure it will be a bulb (bulbs) that keep the warmer, earthy tones. But what???

Meanwhile, I find myself musing over the size of basement you'll be wanting for your future layout! It's going to really be something special!
