Hi my name is Allen, and I'm addicted to N scale trains...:unsure8ao: I've been a member for about a year now, so I thought I would introduce myself. I know a couple of folks here and recognize several others. Dad started me with a Lionel train set when I was kid, bought my first HO train set in the mid 70's. Before I graduated from High school I seen the error of my ways and made the jump to N scale and have never looked back. A friend and I moved into our first apt in 1984 and we needed a train fix bad, so we set out to design a portable layout. After going to show in K.C. in 1986 we started work on a design that would become the Bend Track modular system. In 1990 I bought my house and we filled the basement with modules! We played with and pushed that until 1997. After that I took a break from trains, bought a boat and took up fishing until 2005. After getting back into the hobby, one night I decided that I needed to fill the basement with a layout! So I cleaned everything out and started in. In 2002 I got tired of working for the man and opened my own custom woodshop. Once I got settled into this situation, I got back on track and in 2008 proceeded to fill the basement! It's now 2011, I have all the tracks laid and the trains are rolling! With the help of our small local club we held the first operating session two weeks ago. Looking forward to joining in with everyone here to learn and share in the hobby. I was told to post my layout in the Layout Design Discussion area and will do so shortly. It's not worthy of the pages of N scale Magazine or N Scale Railroading, but it helps me get my FIX. :we-confused: Oh BTW, I model the Rock Island in the summer of 1983..............what did you say?
