Hi, this is Charlie from central Victoria. I'm modelling HO German profile in the main, currently DC/Analog but looking to experiment with DCC--and not wanting to spend thousands doing it.
Welcome aboard! I have always felt that Australia had the coolest geared logging locomotives! How about a photo or two of your German trains.
Good to be on board! I'm building a layout more or less inspired by Frascati near Rome in 1944. I have two Lima Leopold K5 railway guns (Leopold and Robert) and related items. I know this period remains very controversial, but I'm not interested in the politics, just the uniqueness of the rolling stock. Also German and UK streamliners of the pre-war period e.g. BR61, LMS Duchess. Currently running DC analog but looking to dip my toe into DCC with DCC++ scatchbuild since cost is a definite factor! And I'm a passionate supporter of Linux and FOSS, so that isn't too much of a stretch. As for photos, later maybe. Too many tools and parts lying around on the layout at the minute!
Heck, those make the best photos. I also have a big interest in WW2 German military equipment. I’ve put together a pretty cool 1/16 scale rc Tiger 1 circa 1942.
Yep, got into again it by accident more or less. The wife and I moved to a farm and I was sifting a container load of stuff we brought from Melbourne. Lots of it ended up on Fleabay, and the old model trains (circa 60s/70s) were going the same way...until I thought, I'll just clean these up and see if they still work...and they did. That was two and half years ago.
Someone down under! Good! I've been curious about something for a long time. Do you have to wire your rails the other way round because of the coriolis effect?
Well, you can not do that if you want, but then the trains start to spiral upwards into the air due to the missing gravitrons...this is also how kangaroos work, they can only jump counterclockwise Or is it the other way around? :-D
