Bigger house? Maybe, Bigger Transformer? A Standard MRC could handle it. My Friend has 8 SD45's, 4 SP and 4 Cotton Belt. His old MRC Transformer held up on 4 of them. But 8 SD45's? Yeah serious power upgrades. My house has a poorly wired 40amp panel /sigh So I need 200amps into the house and a 200 amp electrical panel before I can grab my 4 SD45's (BN, to me I'd display the GN one).

Because I love USA Trains locomotives and the older ones draw alot of amps I had to plan ahead also. I have a 200 amp service installed but this wasn't the end. I had 10 gauge romax house wire run from the breaker box to 3 outlets which ended up on 3 different circuit breakers. I own 3 Bridgewerks 15 amp transformers which have a max output of 24 volts so I wanted to go over with the electrical wiring rather than go with the minimal. Also you have to remember to throw away the old 18 gauge wirong to your track as you will destroy the transformer and or wiring. There is a hobby store which sells 10 gauge double wire cable which I highly recomend using when wanting to run powerful locomotives, especially in a lash up. Least lets not forget to use Hilmans rail clamp track connectors in which they make special connectors just for 10 gauge wire. Whats nice about Bridgewerks transformers is that they come with gold plated banana plugs.
