There was a !:32 scale manufacturer who did an Amtrak & BN F45. It's an old out of production set with 2 coaches and I cannot remember the name of the company.
DragonFyreGT - I didn't know someone had actually built a F-45 locomotive. Unfortunately I don't think the demand for more modern passenger locomotives is all that great. I know the F45 was built in the early 70's, but I mean more modern that the USA Trains Alco PA-PB. As of right now I don't know any manufacturer making a dedicated diesel passenger locomotive of any type. The F-45 and the FP-45 were based on EMD SD-45 locomotives, you could kitbash one, but I don't of any manufacturer who made the SD-45 either. G scale is not like HO scale for sure, you don't get all of those wonderful choices in G.
Great Trains is the company! Here's someone's video of it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6dIZ7U0_gI&feature=channel I do not own this video in any way.
Not really, the F40PH is based on a GP40-2 and the F45 is based off an SD45. The hoods are close, but the cab fronts and noses aren't even close.
I must have been brain dead this morning. Anyway it is possible to kit bash a F-45. Just as Ike the BN freak said, the F-45 is based off of a SD-45. Aristocraft does offer a SD-45 locomotive that would provide a perfect platform for such a project. You may be able to pick one up reasonable from a sale or auction internet site. Some how I forgot about Aristocraft building a SD-45 locomotive.
What I meant is, It wouldn't be completely unusual to use an SD45 base, the Great Trains F40, and the SD45 Nose. Obviously you'll need to kitbash the shell a bit more to replicate it, but it can be used to kitbash.
well i have never done anything like that. it would look like the child that Frankenstein never had...lol
If I can find a Great Trains F40, I'll buy an SD45 and try it myself xD I actually want to paint the shell like frankenstein now for Halloween
the search is over i found her!! it came to me in an email ******* is having a blowout sale and this was in the email. how cool is that??
I thought that was an <Name Removed Due To Uncertainty of Exclusivness> Exclusive.... You mean it isn't? Because I've had my eye on her for a while now.
Please refrain from using Hobby Store names unless it is a exclusive or custom run. That particular store does not do custom runs EMD Trainman G scale moderator
That GN SD45 in Big Sky Blue is not a custom run to anyone. Aristocraft released it themselves. It only has one road number.
Sharp! I could see it spliced between BSB F45's hauling a hot Seattle-bound freight loaded with Boeing aircraft fuselages, charging up Marias Pass.....
I was thinking more of having it kitbashed into an SDP45 and putting it in front of some custom painted Big Sky Blue Empire Builder and Omaha Orange Empire Builder Coaches
