Underframe bells were added, and BLMA airhoses on the rear. Let everything set up and tomorrow I will add MU cables on the front ends. Then it's back to the airbrush for the weathering, and they will be done.
I ended up getting two units equipped with MU cables...thats all I had from Sunrise. I may make another out of wire. I also had a problem....no ditch lights. After looking at several different things I had I came up with an idea. I took a duel headlight from Sunrise, and cut it in half, and presto....modern ditch lights. Photos soon after they dry and get some paint. I'm scared to move them right now and have the lights fall over!
Alright, here's the ditchlights painted and with Testers window maker in them for lenses. This, like the windows, will dry clear.
Here is a close-up. I got a new camera and am still learning all the goodies on it, so my close-ups might be off here and there....but this ones not too bad.
Really all thats left now is some airbrush weathering. Then I heard these will be put immediately on a hot train out of Nothern California, and headed to points south on the system. Hopifully someone will get some pictures as they head south.
Sears had the Friends and Family sale Sunday and I picked up an Olympus SP550UZ pretty cheap, with a 1GB card. Thats good for over 500 photos, or about 20mins of movies! Once I finish reading the instruction manual, I should be able to play with it a little more.
Jerry - Awesome work!! You've nailed them. So they're headed eastbound back to Willow Springs on a hot 991 train? Yes, hopefully they'll be making the run in daylight, and some lucky railfan will catch them going through the Central Valley or in the Tehachapis. . .
