let's see... there's catenary, lots of passenger cars... but a low level of security. it seems like people simply cross the tracks to get aboard their trains.

i'm almost sure this is not in switzerland. probably not even in europe. first thought was either russia or china. on the other side the loco looks rather small. maybe unusual for russia and china. also china most likely would have a different style of rooftops. there would be far more people as well.

My first impression is that this is a terminal storage area for commuter equipment.....

1 - The parking area near the building at the left seems to be arranged for employees rather than for the public.
2 - No apparent safety zones for access to trains as Sandro pointed out.
3 - All cars appear to be similar, yet train lengths are not, i.e. 4 cars/loco at left (track #1), 7+ cars on track #2, 6+ cars on track #3, and 3+ cars & 1 car/loco on track #4.
4 - All trains parked so that no public access from left-hand building to trains on tracks #2,3, & 4.
5 - Four through tracks under catenary to the right of track #4, with no passenger platforms.
6 - Three through tracks and one "team" track without catenary on the right-hand side, assumed to be freight.

Assuming this is in the US, possible locations could be a SEPTA terminal south or west of Philadelphia, or a NJT terminal west or northwest of New York, or a South Shore or IC terminal south of Chicago.

Note that I'm shooting from the hip here, it probably isn't even in the US.

Do you blur the photos intentionally, or is that just a side effect of zooming way in?:tb-wink:

I am looking at this and thinking that it could possibly be Europe. I remember Alan's photos of Slovenia where many rail stations simply had one walking across the tracks to narrow platforms. I am not saying this is Slovenia, but there are places in Europe without under- or over-passes at stations.

As spread out as it is, I am not sure it is Europe, except maybe Russia.

    LOL

No, I'm not that mean, it's just a factor of the tight zoom. Now not showing you which way is North, that's a different story. :D

There is also no greenery in there. Face it, it is probly in a pretty major town that has high trucking action. JMO

Well, it does appear to be a commuter staging area, but probably not in the US judging by what I can make out of the buildings. Also, now it appears there's only one through track, and that it's next to what I assume to be the station. The parking area is interesting in that there are few cars, and its design is not like most commuter parking areas in the US. I'll leave the specific location to those who are more familiar with what I assume to be European rail infrastructure.

Sure wish you would allow enlargement or magnification of the image, but then that would reduce the challange, wouldn't it.....:tb-wacky:
