I have found Yard Office to be a pretty good database. It has a free shareware version so you can try it. Import or export to Excel. Even DCC information can be put in (which decoder, sound Y/N, and decoder address). Even the manufactorers number (like MTL's) can be put in. Lots of different report formats available. Even a photo can be put in. Very good program. $27 dollars for registration if you like it (and make it fully functional). Fully down-loadable here:

Not a sales pitch. Just a happy customer.

Looks good Dave. I've been using an enhanced version of MTL's own Excel database (http://www.micro-trains.com/databases/zdatabs.xls) by adding purchase date, price, etc. But Yard Office would help since I started taking pictures of the cars to put in the cases. MTL will be doing that in the future too.

And a cheap deal for the Yard Office softwareat $27. Let me check it out this weekend while I'm down there.
