Dunno if I should post this Trains NewsWire article here, or on the GN Forum, or on Darren's D&H Forum, however here 'tis, and you guys can decide....... "Great Dome" car returning to Adirondack service September 25, 2008 NEW YORK - The only remaining dome car in Amtrak service, car No. 10031, will be assigned to the New York-Montreal Adirondack from Oct. 2 through Nov. 11. The dome car will operate northbound from Albany-Rensselaer to Montreal on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, and return south on Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays. One of six Great Dome cars built in 1955 by the Budd Company for the Great Northern, the 10031 has the unique feature of a dome running the full length of the 85-foot car, as opposed to the more common dome that encompasses less than half the length of a car. The dome will seat 90 passengers on an open but first-come, first-served basis. Amtrak's dome car ordinarily only operates in the West. The car will be added to the train at Albany for the northbound run to Montreal over Canadian Pacific's Delaware & Hudson line along Lake Champlain.
It did the same thing last year. I even bought decals & the car to model it going thru my fall scenes.
Use to love it when a conductor on the Pacific Surfliners. We could call out the signals b/4 the engineer did.
