Hmmm, and neither are the couple of other places I was focusing on....... :tb-confused::tb-err::tb-frown:
Ok...trying to think like Darren.... It's not working too good. But is the last heading of his post a hint? or a typo? "Fouled ya" is it supposed to be "Fooled ya"? Could we be somewhere near a baseball diamond? park? I've looked around Louisville, Cooperstown and alot of the major parks.....stumped..... Is this area out in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of a concrete jungle? I'd venture to say more SUBurban than urban but "the man" has been known to fool us before. This is a good one.
Gee, is that a red caboose there? :tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin: Of course it's next to the train station. Not on any rail, but sure is close enough to a railway bridge so I guess that counts.
Ok, ok Since I have to play by the rules, it's located along the old Delaware & Hudson Railway in Kings, NY at the GPS coordinates of 43° 9'11.38"N 73°51'20.29"W :tb-biggrin: Happy now? :tb-cute::tb-wink:
I'll never tell :tb-wink: That was definitely a good challenge, it took me ALL over until the lightbulb went on.
Darren, that appears to be a very tight radius leaving the main going around the station. Which is why my initial impression was that it was an interurban or trolley roadbed. What was the configuration and useage of the line when it was in service?
What you thought was rail roadbed, is actually just a car road. The D&H Kings Depot has been moved from it's original location and that's D&H Caboose #35872 sitting next to it. The actual rail line is still operational crossing over the bridge in the above photograph I took several years ago. The initial Google Earth image was position so it would not show the bridge or the actual railway roadbed; leaving you to think the car road was the railway. The WINNER post (coming soon) will show the bridge and railway roadbed and the car roads so you can see how things are orientated. :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink:
WINNER!!!!!!! Congratulations! gvcborders Kings, NY Closer View Location submitted by Stourbridge Lion
You, Sir, are a Stinker. But of course you already knew that, and revel in that knowledge. :tb-tongue: Seriously, that was an imaginative puzzle....well done.
