<searches google earth for big yellow pushpins (thumbtacks, drawing pins, whatever) >
Darn, only the previous Google Earth Challenges are represented! :tb-cute:

Warm, grey road and track (like BNSF replacing perfectly good pink Arizona SF ballast :( )
No sign of kangaroos - unless those things casting shadows ain't rocks.

Nope, no idea. Zoom out some ;)

There's some green things down by the river though...

Hmm... Not perfectly flat, but not overly hilly. Two rivers present, and what looks to be disturbed earth (water flow marks or old roadway) between the tracks and the upper river. Warm, not overly wide road but very long straight bits - probably continental USA.

And what's that big grey smudge on the left, that what the side-road goes through before it hits the river?

Alright, I've tried looking at most of the bad-lands I can think of (generally the western USA), and I just can't find that shade of brown. I can get reds and yellows and oranges; but no good browns.
And google earth is just too slow tonight to do anything more than wander across a couple of random states. Maybe after the weekend...

So the shadows in the first one might actually be 'roos?
And now I'm starting to wonder what the wagons in that picture are carrying. There's a definite division into thirds, but the dimensions/scale seems wrong for open-top hoppers .. [IMG]

Oh well, I'm off to that exciting and fun "Work" place! Y'all got about 12 hours to solve it before I come back and look again [IMG]

Ok, based on what I've seen and read so far....... Southern Hemisphere, eastern flowing rivers (based on that two flow into one) which normally puts them on the eastern side of the mountains......desert like landscape......pinkish/grey coloring up close but darker as you pan out......terrain appears to be on the edge of mountains - based on the slopes at the rivers..... hard to tell type of load - maybe intermodal containers?
I was thinking Australia at first......searched there but couldn't find it yet
Then South America, primarily Chile, Argentina area.....
Well, just some thoughts so far, gonna look for a little tonight then hit the sack. But I've got alot of time tomorrow to solve it! :tb-biggrin::tb-wink:

mmm... Interesting ideas; except with a 75 degree rotation, the river either flows North or South - depending on if I should have spun left or right (still haven't worked that out right; maybe google earth spins the other way in the southern hemisphere?)

South America has a large amount more Brown land to look at :D

Although it might be too early to discount Russia, China and Europe.
It's probably time to give Africa a rest, right? ;)

You say that after I've trolled every rail line in Chile without success?

That does it, I'm going to go play with my soldering iron and my electric drill (oh, and my layout)

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find solid core AWG20-22 in this city? <sigh>

Of course, if they were easy, they wouldn't be called Advanced, right ;)
