    Hi,

Does anyone know whether a AC6000 is on the manufacturers agenda? Or whether an aftermarket kit maker produces the extended radiator hood that could be used for a kit bash of an AC6000CW or ES44DCi?

    Cheers,
    Chris

Actually, Overland made one in brass several years ago - in a couple of UP and CSX schemes. It was also done in plastic in HO by BLI.

I'd love to see Kato or FVM do it, but wouldn't get my hopes up too high given the somewhat limited appeal.

This is my most wanted model for Kato to produce. I would get atleast ten of them to start. They already have the cab, front and rear handrails and trucks from the AC44 and ES44, this parts are also the biggest differece between the CSX and UP units if you dont count the exhaust stack.

Not a lot of them were produced, but then again Kato did the SD80MAC, so there is hope. Jamie

Speaking of GE's and Kato, the CSX ES44AC's are listed now as shipping 10/25/2010 (today) at the Kato site. However, they did not update the image, which has me somewhat worried... The GE 2005 Demo had three vents on the conductor's side - and the model does not. Of course the CSX units should have this feature as well as "wide" handrails, which no other Kato ES44AC would have. I am sure there are other variations between models, but these were sort of the "gross" differences I hoped Kato would take care of.

Hopefully, just a mixup with their webpage, but the GE Demo is not a good sign at CSX was done correctly.

AC6000CW would be this scaler's dream come true.

I would love to see this model in N scale. This would be my first pre-order model. I would definitely love to have three of these on my layout..........for starters.

There's at least three CSX paintschemes (YN2, YN3 and YN2 Diversity) and two UP schemes (UP, UP Deliver) and maybe one more. There are also the BHP units, I believe.

The downside (correct me if I'm wrong) is that they are 2-3 feet longer than the AC4400CW/ES44AC and would need a new frame.

Don't forget the GE Demo scheme. I had the Overland Models one back in 2000 and it ran okay. I'd much prefer to see Kato do it or maybe FVM as a follow on. Could care less who makes it as long as it runs well and looks good.

The Southern Pacific had three on order before the UP takeover. (a moment of silence...)
They were delivered in UP colors. I'd buy some, especially in SP colors.

True, only 311, but still seems to do well in HO sales so why not N? And there were only thirty SD80 MAC's! Chris

Funny, the innacuracies don't bother me at all for some reason. I do however understand you guys who are upset by this because when I was building airliner models, this kind of stuff drove me nuts. Looking forward to having some of these on the layout.

It would be interesting to know the actual mix of eastern vs. western road production numbers. I model both east and west, so I'm not really so upset, but I feel for those who are.

The real "villain" is GE/EMD who keep making changes and the railroads who order special options!!! :) :) :)

Well fixing the handrails is the easy part if I can get the parts from Kato, the dynamic vent will require a hack job to add the vent. I did send Kato some feedback on there site about this since they got the AC44 correct when they did the a few years ago. I have eight on order so I probably will end up hacking them.

If they ever do a AC60 at least the long hood is the same between the UP and CSX, 6000HP units.

I wouldn't mind a few AC6000's, they're some of my favorite units to see when I'm out railfanning. I like their paint scheme(until they're painted in Dark Future).

    GE Demo

Just wondered if you have a photo. The only one I can find is identical to the Kato...two vents together and a third further back.
