EMD, MTH's 2-8-8-8-2 was also made in Virginian as well, I also have the NYC J3a, They both run well using Aristo's TE just be sure that you don't use the PWC setting as it will cook the MTH Board Vids of both can be seen hear VGN 700 and NYC 5410 The Triplex is running on my now defunct indoor layout and the Hudson at the clubs layout.
Thanx for your input and vids. Thanx for the adcie on MTH Trains, It's great to get a variety of tips for a variety of G scale manufacturers here on Train Board. Nice to see that MTH Trains will interface with other brand manufacturers equipment.
WRONG. An AC transformer can in fact control an MTH locomotive with OR without the DCS system; it can send DC signals via the track to control the sound system without DCS. DC can run the locomotive with or without DCS, but then the sound is only controllable when using the DCS system. The only way to access all the sound features is the DCS system, but it is not in fact limited to AC power. There is no way to convert MTH engines to battery or generic DCC without gutting the electronics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Z1FRu7Ygw
Thanx for the correction, I definately don't claim to know all there is to know about every G scale manufacturer out there and MTH is definately my weak spot only because I don't know enough people who run them. Thanx for your input and don't be afraid to join in more often or even create your own posts in the G scale section. We have quite a few G scale members now, but it seems only a few make a post or get involved. I would like to see more G scalers get involved in posts here to get more info like this on the board.
We have a couple of new Custom Run Announcments. My friend Krissy who models the RHB AND The MKT Katy has sent me a link to RLD Hobbies Custom Run Aristocraft Texas Special E8. I say MKT because of the paint. Yes it has the Frisco logo on it too, but the nose and paint scheme is definitly that of the Katy. They also have a custom run AML 1:29 Reefer, Moose Drool Beer. Keeping an eye out on the custom run front.
