I seen that BLWNSCALE.com has Fox Valley Models; new Norfolk Southern and BNSF Gevo series locomotives ready for ordering and I'm counting my pennies now to get some NS locomotives. I can't wait until I can feel them in my hands!!!

REALLY SUX!! that the headlight is in the wrong place on the NS units.
All that great detail and the headlight . Another big thing that I see wrong with the unit
is the number on the conductors side is to far out of center, and the one on the engineer
side is right. I think someone was sleeping on the job not to catch that mistake. You pay good money for a engine, you expect it to be right. I do anyway.

The correct NS high headlight would of been cool but as I had expected they weren't going to make an NS only cab. I got my three BNSF ES44DC's in the mail today and to my disappointment they have the same too dark orange paint and too light yellow stipes as the BNSF ES44AC. I was hoping they would have fixed the paint color issue. Also the BNSF logo on the nose is too small. Now to decide to keep them, fix them or sell them. Kinda let down.

I agree with you on the FVM BNSF orange color. It doesn’t seem right to me . KATO is pretty close on their color choice and I will purchase their GEVO’s when they come out in the next month or so. As for the 1st run FVM BNSF units I have 2 units and really have no love for them and would sell them if the right offer came along (about $75 apiece). The other FVM units I have (Ferromex, UP, and KCS) are all good and run well.

Funny thing about FVM is I pointed out to Matt via email about the small ES44 loco designation on the CSX units being too far forward on the side of the cab. They are supposed to be centered under the number. In his response, he was aware of the issue and said it would be fixed on future releases. My opinion there, it should have been right in the first place in lieu of releasing something that you knew was wrong. Especially at the price point of these locos.

Anyways, just my 2 cents worth.

Unfortunately, with the mistakes made we may see the end of the locomotives from FVM. It Matt loses money on this run, then there may not be another and certainly would not have the profits from the sales to fix the issues.

Granted some of these issues could have been caught in pre-production. But it could be that the pre-production models were even worse and there was a communication issue with the factory. I am not sure FVM has multiple pre-poduction units, or if they get one and try to do the best they can on fixing it.

Matt has also said, that he knows some cabs etc will not be 100% correct because there are so many variations, the tooling costs are prohibitive. This is an eccnomic reality. Kato also suffered from wrong light location syndrome with the NS Dash 9 units.

So if they run well, that is the main issue, all the rest is mostly cosmetic and can be corrected.

I agree with you 100% its not right to take another roads prototype paint in in a NS scheme and put it on the market. Therefore I choose to pass on this one.

People who want to model NS and can live right with compromises should not be allowed to do so? In fact, you cannot accurately model NS currently without scratchbuilding skills or compromises. I suspect many NS fans will take compromise over nothing.

Frank,I agree to a certain point but, there's no mistaking the high mounted highlights on the NS units.

While I model close enough/good enough I'm not sure if I can overlook the highlights since its a obvious detail that sticks out..
