'FREIGHTLINER' - a real RR?

    Is "Freightliner" a real company? Any pics if so...?

    The double arrow is what you might call a fallen flag.

    It was the emblem of the old British Rail before it was sold off to the private sector, and it appeared on absolutely everything - locos, coaches, freightcars, road vehicles, stations (depots), etc.

    Freightliner, Railfreight and probably others were just subdivisions within the industry. I think roughly speaking Freightliner was intermodal (or just containers as the loading gauge does really allow piggyback) and Railfreight was more or less carload.

    I expect Alan or A.N. Other can fill in more details.

    For pics just look for British Railways in 70's/80's I think.

    Thanks Mike... I have about a dozen of the N scale 2-crate versions and I was thinking about changing the livery.

    as far as i know freightliner makes semi trucks here in the states, not too sure on the RR aspect.

    If my memory serves me right The symbol on the engine was once used for British Rail. So i Am thinking that Freightliner is what britsh rail called there freight hauling section. Some one from Britian could help you out better.
