I am working on taking the plunge to try and install the detail parts that came with the Fox Valley GP60 (Norfolk Southern in my case). I can barely make out where it appears the holes should be drilled. Any tips on this? What size drill bit does this take? Also, once installed, should I glue the detail parts? Any advice is appreciated!
On my GP60M from FVM, the ladder grab irons were skewed, meaning the holes needed to be drilled straight back on a parallel line with the hood sides rather than at a right angle with the surface where the holes go (make sense?). I didn't pick up on the skewed thing until after I drilled the holes, so I had to substitute BLMA grabs. At any rate, I typically use a #80 bit in a pin vise for grab iron holes.
