Flared Wings at London

    Yesterday afternoon, I took a chance and went to the CP yard in London, to behold at the west end of the yard, 2 of the new SD70M's with the flared radiators. East end of the yard, 4 more SD70M's 3 standard ones and one more with flares, I'll scan up the pics after the film is used up tomorrow [​IMG]

    What is the reason for the flared radiators? Extra cooling usually equals extra horsepower.

    The flared radiators have something to do with helping the units to meet more stringent emissions standards. Why I don't know, the air here in SoCal ain't so bad. <cough>,<wheeze> [​IMG]
