Anyone have a good color shot they can post of the Firefly, streamlined version, 4-6-2? I am finding tons of B&W but no color. Also, any loco info would be greatly appreciated, I.E. length with tender, driver diameter etc.

    Thanks in advance.

I think this is a colorized post card.

Thank you, that helps! I was not sure the color on the drivers. I didn't know if they were black or blue. Looks like blue. I am assuming it is a white stripe and not sliver but the rods look silver though.

    Thank you again

Interesting how that sheet metal is formed on the front end. They really wanted to make it look like the engine was splitting air.

In the color photos I've seen of Pacific number 1026, the big stripe was actually silver or aluminum. It was definatly a shiny matalic color, and not white. This is reflected in many of the black and white photos I have seen as well.

The silver areas appear to be flanked by a small area where the blue paint showes through, and then gold stripes.

The color photo's I'm looking at of 1026 are in Joe Collias' Frisco Power on page 305 and 306. If you're searching for this book, make sure you get the version published by the Frisco Railroad Museum in 1997. There's an older version of the book that doesn't include the color section at the rear. To help you spot this, the older version has blue writing on the front cover of the dust jacket. The covers are probably blue as well, but I don't own this version, so I'm not sure. The newer version has red writing on the front cover of the dust jacket and red covers.

Marre And Harper's Frisco in Color includes a photo of 4-6-2 number 1063 on page 9. 1063 was semi-streamlined (no streamlined front on the boiler). It also has a silver stripe, but the silver is trimmed with red stripes.

On the cars the window band was indeed white. This is reflected both in the color photos in the books above, as well as color photos that have been posted to the libary at http://www.frisco.org.
