I am really thankful I got mine when they came out. I honestly don't think they'll ever be run again. I grabbed some in every variant.

I got a lot of the wagontop boxcars too, although I wish I had more now. I also doubt those will ever be run again. I tried to get at least one of each variant, but missed a few.

I have that problem on this board frequently. When I posted on the HELP section I was informed it was my problem. I now have a new computer and use Chrome but today it's been sluggish here but not other sites. I've learned to watch the little box with flashing symbols in the upper right corner. I have to wait until they stop flashing and sometimes even longer.

Some other sites I use do this from time to time, then the problem goes away for a while. I noticed the little flashy icons, too. I just wait for them to stop, sometimes it takes a minute or so. It's a "patience meter" lol.

Hoping everyone had a good Easter break. I'm busy with other stuff atm, but I did get this item abt a week ago. It's an Atlas Ford LNT9000.

I needed a daycab to model a Burlington Industries tractor-trailer. It's not a bad looking body, once you strip off the gooped factory paint. I've included photos. I'm considering purchasing a laser printer for my own custom decals. I have a vector of the BI graphic and the 2 styles of font used across the air dam and trailer.

The last photo is an idea I have for the frame of the mirror. It's a small piece of .009 electric guitar string. I roughly did this with a pair of pliers, but I believe it'll work ok using a better bending technique. The good thing about working with guitar string is it's pretty rigid when working with small lengths, but be warned... grab it the wrong way and it will stick you good.. and you will bleed, like I did last night. It looks bigger in the picture than it is.

They're perfect :) Much appreciated! Certain things aren't the easiest to find. It's awesome to have this kind of feedback available, saves me so much time. I had no idea these existed and I never bothered to search Google because it would've been useless. I get tired of wasting time looking thru pages of stuff not even close to what I'm looking for.. if I can't find it I try to make it. Thank you, again!

    You're welcome. (y)

    * They are etched stainless steel...so they do have a shiny 'chrome' appearance to them :D

I know, etched stainless steel, that's so cool and they are cheap, too. Any ideas on the air dam (whatever they're called) on the truck and trailer? I was going to have to make them, too:

The 'air dam' on the tractor could easily be fashioned out of thin styrene sheet. The 'bracing' on the back of that air dam could be fashioned out the leftover stainless steel from the 'sprue' the mirrors come on. The dome type dam on the front of the trailer will be a bit harder to make....but not impossible. JMO

Perhaps the word you were looking for is "sprue" : a channel through which metal or plastic is poured into a mold.

The referenced channel molds the frame and spokes that hold multiple cast pieces together after being released from the mold, for cleaning, inspection and packaging.

Great idea for the bracing. They may work as windshield wipers, hood latches, other details. The styrene truck dam may end up my only choice. I'd like to have that slight curvature and the idea of fake nails popped into my head, idk. We're working with slivers of stuff, basically.

For the trailer dam, I'm thinking of several possibilities, one being, keeping an eye out for tray forms, like our trains sit in inside the jewel case, or some type of semi rigid plastic packing that has bumps and braces that hold stuff. It may be possible to find something the right size and shape, cut it out and use it.

Nah, just 30 lashes with an N scale cat o' nine tails.

"Spue" is an archaic from of "spew."

So I suppose an energetic modeler could spue mirror supports, in a manner of speaking.
