    Forgive me for bringing reality into this discussion, but I believe that's the Washington Metro yard near the King Street station in Alexandria, VA. It's also visible at ground level across the tracks from AMTRAK's ALX station.

    I have often seen it while on AMTRAK's Crescent, but never from the air...thanks for this.

    Looks like the San Antonio Southern pacific East Yard. They had a 180 degree yard lead there. It's not used for that anymore.

    We have similar "layouts" here in Denver at the light rail facilities. They may be even smaller radius as those trains are designed to go on street trackage and have to negotiate some really tight turns.

    Funny how we had trolleys, then we had busses, now we have light rail (trolleys).
