NP Class A3 Actually, the SP&S 700 was a copy of the NP A3-Class, not of the A1 Timken. The only difference to the NP A3 was that the SP&S engines were oil-fired. But I wish that I could have experienced the 700 "life" as well....:tb-sad: I vote for the Timken Engine as my favorite: I am surprised that no N-Scale manufacturer has picked up on the great marketing potential for that engine: It would be prototypical correct to run on 14 different railroads (including 148 "light" miles on the Delaware & Hudson) in both passenger and freight service. 73 inch driving wheels would be a great mechanism for many other Northerns, both dual-service and freight It is a beautiful engine, originally painted dark green with gold stripes It has lots of historical significance, proving that roller bearings will work on heavy steam engines Cheers Dirk
