Indeed I would have dreamt of a CF7 keeping its forward end, with its bulldog nose and wide cab, and aft side converted with its narrow hood like the real thing. ;)

Sorry. I was only referencing the BN. I know that others operated their units, unmodified, much beyond that year.

I just wish I had taken photos of the engines and cars back in 1961 when my mom, two bothers and I rode from Seattle to St.Paul on the Western Star. All I have is a bit of the window frame on the car I was riding in. This looks to be the Glacier Park Lodge from the train while we stopped at the East Park Station. It is a little under exposed to say the least. F stop and shutter speed were just guesses for a kid who borrowed his dad's 35mm camera.

It is that lodge. Station name is "Glacier Park". Location is East Glacier, or "East Glacier Park Village as they call it these days. :)

GP39-2's end of an F unit era.

I remember the GP39-2's arriving in service and the F's disappeared almost overnight.

    So sad
