ES&NA SW1 4742, the power for the Dinner Train on June 28, 1987 2 miles north of Eureka Springs, AR.

Later that night, I got this shot of ESNA Shay on the turntable at the Eureka Springs enginehouse. The turntable is from the Ft. Smith (AR) roundhouse. This was my very first night shot, and it was accomplished with help from some of my fellow Frisco modelers (we were in town for the annual FMIG convention, staying at the Basin Block Hotel in downtown).

Both good shots, Bob! I have always wanted to have a go at taking night photos, but never got around to it. For a first one, that Shay pic looks great [IMG]

Thanks, Alan! I was lucky that night to have an experienced photographer help me out on exposure time- I had my camera set on a tripod, and opened the shutter (using a cable release) for several minutes. The illumination by the lights just below the turntable helped out quite a bit, too.

One other thing- always have a spare camera battery. The one in my camera shot craps after this shot, and I couldn't get any more night shots (grumble, grumble, grumble), so I was very lucky this turned out well.
