    I purchased an Atlas Gold HO GP-7 w/ a LokSound decoder. The only problem is out of the box, the horn is a single chime thing that sounds like a drunk goose w/ a bad sore throat. I want to change it to something more like a 5 chime Nathan, etc. I've been on the Atlas site, the ESU site. I've been looking for instructions on changing the horn, but find nothing. I find a bazillion CV's on what I don't need, but nothing on the horns. I have gotten spoiled w/ WOW sound that is very, very easy to change horns.

    Looking for some suggestions from the LokSound fans on this. This engine was manufactured in late 2013.

    Thanks...

    Doesn't matter when the engine was made, but which ESU decoder is in it. Is this a factory install, or did someone add the decoder after market?

    If you have DecoderPro/JMRI, it can identify the decoder for you.

    Yes. Manufactured w/ the ESU. I have tried downloading JMRI, but could never get it to work. Given my engines are now almost all DCC, I will need to dive into it. I dread dealing w/ software like the plague, but it is not something that can't be overcome. Thanks..

    Okay. This is promising. I got a new laptop recently (Windows 10). Prt.etty powerful DELL my "geeK' son helped me select. I had a dedicated "tower" PC in my workshop w/ an old version of Decoder Pro/JMRI and could never get it to work. I just down loaded Decoder Pro, V4.20 and it loaded pretty dang easily. I like this version. I have several decoder interfaces such as Quantam, ESU, ESU tester, as well as a direct NCE system. This recognizes all of them through the preferences drop-down. I see playing around w/ this system in my future.

    Thanks for the "nudge"!

    My bet is you have a LokSound Select installed with sound project 93468. You would change CV48 as per this list

    Horns:
    CV48=0 Leslie A200 #1
    CV48=1 Nathan K3L
    CV48=2 Nathan M5
    CV48=3 Nathan P3
    CV48=4 Nathan Old Cast P5
    CV48=5 Nathan K3HA
    CV48=6 Leslie S3L #1
    CV48=7 Leslie RS5T
    CV48=8 Leslie A125
    CV48=9 Nathan M3
    CV48=10 Leslie RS3K
    CV48=11 Nathan K5H
    CV48=12 Leslie S2M
    CV48=13 Nathan M3H
    CV48=14 Leslie S3E
    CV48=15 Leslie S5TRF

    Bells:
    CV48=0 Steel Bell
    CV48=64 Bronze Bell

    if you want the bronze bell, add 64 to the value. If you use program on the main to change this, you need to interrupt power for the change to take effect.

    ^ Awesome. Thank you. I will put the Geep on the programming track in AM and have at it.

    Howdy Kitbash

    For such actions the ESU Programmer is ideal. If you want to buy more ESU decoders in the future, it is worth purchasing the programmer. Is a damn helpful part.

    I did pick one up. Plus I built a programming board. The honest truth is, I have spent so much time on the layout, I have since ignored programming and decoder maintenance. That is something I am endeavoring to correct. This week I was also able to purge JMRI DecoderPro from my computer and I loaded it on my laptop. I was able to successfully get up and running but I still have some issues w/ DecoderPro I have work through.

    I've been visiting the JMRI forums to try and get some hints and suggestions, but their forum seems hard to navigate. I get the feeling on the JMRI site it is set up for experienced computer geeks. I'd really like to find a DecoderPro for dummies site. I don't think using it is that hard or complicated, it is getting it set up correctly that makes me crazy.

    Have you joined the JMRIusers groups.io ? There are lots of folks there who know that not everyone is an expert.
