    Joe,

The roads were made with Woodland Scenic smooth-it. Instead of mixing entirely with water, I added acylic paint to the asphalt color. Once dry, I sanded down to get matching height with curbing. For the lines, I use Line-O tape pins striping, 1/32. After completed, I gave a wash of dust and grimy black.

Line O tape pins? Is that for cars? The clean results are what really catches the eye. So many times you can try to paint by hand but it just falls short.

    Joe,

The pinstripe is tape form. Not sure what their main business is, but they list the tape for hobby/craft use.

The clean line is the reason I went with tape versus paint. I have tried the paint pens and the result is not as crisp of a line. The tend to bleed out a bit. Maybe it was the way I was doing it, not sure. The tape was just a better option for me.

Give it a try and I think you will agree. They make tape all the way down to 10/1000, up to 1".

What about yellow decal paper? Would that work? Decals are very thin and can be moved around while still wet.

Good idea Loren. Just not sure how well the decals would adhere to a porous surface. Just my 2 cents. Run it by David Smith next time you talk with him.

Ed, you are right. Decals will have a hard time adhering to a rough surface unless you can find a way to make it smooth. Also there a problem with being opague enough.

I use Prismacolor Premier white and yellow pencils. If you make a mistake you just erase it and start over.

Here are a few pictures of the grain silo built by Steve Van Til. Painting has began and figured I would update. Still needs some more touching up. Since the images were taken, the rooftops have been weathered a bit like the top of the silo.

Nice paint job Ed. I like the choice of colors, and I specially like the weathered roof.

looks great to me, I really enjoy elevators. This massive structure warrants a siding for sure.

This is the area that the proto version resides. I plan on trying to incorporate the canal and river wall.
