Saw mention earlier today- The Edaville is bankrupt? The assets would be dispersed?

Anyone back in the Northeast US know about this? If true, I hope that any remaining Maine two foot stuff will somehow go to the best places for that equipment?

Sure hope that this condition of "flux" comes out well. Have seen a few too many that end up a mess. And a big loss to history.

About two or three years before they went bankrupt the first time I had the pleasure of taking my wife and oldest son (then about 3 years old) to ride the Edaville RR and see its Christmas lights display. That led to the bug of me getting back into model railroading. The park at that time had a couple of ex-Maine narrow gauge steamers ready to go, the cars were steam heated. It was a great ride.

There were also some minor amusement park attractions like you would see at a county fair. There was also a toy train museum that had Lionel, and American Flyer trains from the 30's and 40's still in the box.

When the Edaville went bankrupt the first time, everything in the museum was sold at auction. The Maine Narrow Gauge RR Museum in Portland, Maine managed to get the bulk of the rolling stock including a couple of steam engines (I am not sure of the number or which ones). The B&M Flying Yankee was sold to a foundation that is in the process of restoring the Zephyr sister streamliner.

My own opinion as to why it failed the second time, was because there was no real attraction left. There was not a museum anymore, the steam engines were gone and were replaced by a little diesel switcher. The train ride behind a diesel was just not enough attraction to keep the crowds coming.

    AJ-

Thanks for the information. I thought that they'd kept a Maine two foot steamer, plus a couple of pieces of rolling stock. This sounds a little better. But it's still sad.
