This is beyond frustrating. I have a Digitrax Zephyr (not an XTRA) and 5 Fox Valley Gevos (n scale of course) that I installed Digitrax DZ125INs in. Out of the 5, only 1 will program a new address or read back anything. All of the others give me the "d nd" code when I try to do anything with them. But they do run on address 03. Any ideas? By the way, I have a sixth FVM gevo and went with a TCS decoder...worked like a charm. Thanks in advance for any thoughts anyone has.
Blast mode Are you using the blast mode? I have read discussions about needing that method for some decoders. Rich
Thanks everyone. Not sure what is going on...I have only tried paged mode. I took two decoders out of two problem children and put them in the one loco that was good. I got one decoder to program in that loco, but the other refused to change anything. I then tried to program the remaining Gevos again, leaving the decoders in them...and they all programmed this time. What?!?!?!? But when I check the addresses on readback, I get all sorts of numbers back, but not the actual loco number. So I am now down to one decoder that will not program at all...and maybe two bad FVM loco circuit boards???? I am confusing myself... I have not tried blast mode...does the Zephyr do that?
I've heard of the blast mode but I don't think the Zephyr can do that. Try the other three programming modes. I sometimes have to try all four before a decoder will accept the new address.
The other modes don't work either. Emailed Matt at FVM and Digitrax. Both responded very quickly. Matt is sending me new boards to try...now that is great customer service!
