Does NCE Power Cab detect shorts and shut down?

Curious, as I'm awaiting the arrival of a new Power Cab. I've previously used DCC with a Digitrax Zephyr. Occasionally, I forget to throw my turnouts and locos will shut down when entering an improperly thrown turnout. The Zephyr shuts down and the train stalls until I throw the turnout in the proper position. Does the Power Cab behave the same way? I've read about circuit protection. Do I need anything to add to the Power Cab setup aside from what comes in the box?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I own and love my NCE PCab. Firstly all cabs/throttles will go dead when 2 hot rails are bridged with a metal object, causing a short. Only place they won't is in an isolated section of track gapped on each end and activated with a separate on/off switch. It's not your arriving NCE or was Digitrax that are wrong. I believe your problem is that you may have one or more 'power-routing' switches (TOs) in the track. Hoping you know the diff between 'power routing' and 'all live' switches, you may have skipped the way P-routing switches are gapped and wired. P-routing switches will cause a short when entering the wide end of the switch toward the single end if not gapped, due to the points clashing, polarity-wise, with the stock-rail they come against. Too much to type here about it. But, if you are using this type of switch, do a search for 'how to wire power routing switches (turnouts)'... M
