I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the Harlem Transfer terminal. I have got the Model Railroad Planning 2007 magazine which has a few pictures and the trackplan plus the Morning Sun New York Harbor Railroads Vol 1 and Klambach New Haven Railroad Along the Shore Line which contain a couple of pictures but any different views or information would be very useful for a HO layout that I hoping to build in the UK. Thanks Neil
Harlem Transfer Info Hello Neil, I'm the author of the 2007 MRP article on the Harlem Transfer, and I'll be happy to share some of the other photos and information I have that was not published. I've recently decided to build a Harlem Transfer layout myself, so perhaps we could share ideas and information if you let me know how to contact you directly. In the mean time, have a look at Phil Goldstein's wonderful website at: http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/indloco/ht.html Have you settled on an era? I'm leaning toward the late '30s or early 40's. Regards, Charlie
Hi Charlie Thanks for the offer, I supplied the valuation map to Phil's site. I was hoping to model the era after the freight depot was rebuilt. I have sent you a message with my contact email. Regards Neil
Awesome, two more NYC car float layouts! I'm working on an N-scale N-trak module based loosely on the Bush Terminal facility (read more about it here). I've already started scratchbuilding a boxcab (similar to CNJ 1000, not used at BT, but I like boxcabs), a rare 59-tonner (used exclusively on the BT), an idler/reach gondola, and a float bridge. Looking forward to seeing your layouts progress.
