Anyone know the procedure for taking the boiler shell off the Intermountain ACs? The motor on one of mine needs the bearings lubricated. It squeals like a pig. Intermountain says it's relatively easy. I'm not so sure.
Randy, Search for this thread "How to disassemble an Intermountain AC-12" by Mark Watson. The thread has pictures and narration. Good thread. Carl
I can't find it either by using TB search, however try this: Google "How to disassemble an Intermountain AC-12", that will bring up a Trainboard posting which is the one I referred to above. Hope this works, Carl
Just verified, the search results do bring this up https://www.trainboard.com/highball...to-disassemble-the-intermountain-ac-12.48772/
Yep, that works, I have that one book marked as I need to replace the traction tires on mine. Just found the hidden bag of spare tires and couplers in the packaging.
I did finally find it Carl. Thank you. Now I need to take the time to lube the bearings so I don't have to send it out west unless of course if the motor is shot. I doubt it is that bad but we shall see.
