Hey guys, I want to start out by saying I love the PM42 and all it's cool abilities and features. I was hoping the PM74 would be an enhanced version but alas it wasn't so. But my latest project needs a power manager and the PM42 is too big and with an open board, not a good idea. So I installed a PM74 and it doesn't work as it should.

Here's the setup. This is a command station in a box. I have a DCS210+, UR93, PM74 and a R-PI5 handling JMRI and a WiThrottle server. Good news is at this point everything works perfectly together I can use a UWT throttle to control the trains, I can use a DT602D, wired and wireless. The problem is in the short circuit protection of the PM74. The PM74 is wired as so...
    Block 1 Red Line 1AC and 1BC,
Block 2 is Yellow Line 2AC and 2BC,
Block 3 is the command station input,
Block 4 is a G scale decoder for DC operations on the Red line (with a DC/DCC switch for isolation) and that is wired to 3AC and 3BC,
Last is a test track which is on 4AC and 4BC.
The loconet cables are from the A port of the command station into the UR93, out of the UR93 into the PM74, then out of the PM74 into a pass through so we can acquire new throttles. Pretty standard fare here.

The problem is when I test the short circuit protection all 4 lines drop and it trips the command station. If I unplug the Loconet input to the PM74, the short circuit protection works as it should. I tried connecting the PM74 directly to the command station's Loconet B port, no joy. I do not know what's going on here, and the programming is not very well described in the manual, nor do I see anything in the manual that would cover this issue. I would like this on the loconet as it may be needed to coordinate power management for boosters in the future. BTW this CSIAB is for a T-Trak layout.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

So I have been told this could be a firmware issue. Well I have been working all night to try and update the firmware on the PM74 and I get an error when I try to run DigiIPL which states "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect." Well that's just peachy. I tried all the MS KB items, which are the same as on youtube and no joy. I have also tried running this in compatibility mode with Windows 7 and 8 also no joy. Anyone have a work around for this?

So Digitrax recommended installing Soundloader to fix the issue with the compatibility and that actually worked. So now I was able to upload the latest firmware to the PM74 but alas no joy, it still kicks the command station offline but only when the Loconet cable is attached. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?
