Everyone who carry's Digitrax has them available right now. It's a crap shoot as to who actually has them in stock, or who is already sold out.

This is an important event here, as with this product release, Z Scale DCC is now a possibility for so many people who could not enjoy DCC before.

I have had probably 15-20 different people approach me this year alone and ask if I could convert some of their locos to DCC. Before the drop in decoder it was considered a risky affair, as it is possible the loco don't run as well as it did before, and nobody wants to be in the business of buying people new locomotives because they ruined it while converting to DCC.

The manual that comes with the decoder is in black and white. There is a nice full color one on DIGITRAX.COM

EXACT same information, but a little easier to read.

I got fed up with waiting so I called Litchfield Station looking for the decoders, and they said:

    1. If anyone wants to put up some SERIOUS money to have me send a decoder to them -- speak up -- serious money since I know I won't get it back. The photos I posted at the start of this thread are of one unit of ten units I received on Friday. Minimal charge for photos of the other nine. The first one is installed in a GP35

    2. "They haven't even been built yet" sounds like a salesperson telling you "anything" so you won't go elsewhere. Sounds like a story I heard this weekend about a house for sale with no basement. The realtor told the potential buyer that "none of the houses in this area have basements due to the lake". Only problem with that statement is that EVERY house EXCEPT that one has a basement. From a letterhead: "Trust me, I am a Salesperson"

Somebody must live close to Digitrax or know someone there to get the true story of what is going on.

    Hi Don;

If what your offering is to sell me one of the nine decoders you have left for the GP35, than i'll put up serious cash. i would rather deal with someone who actully has one to sell me, than talk and talk with the on-line shops for the next several weeks.

I only need one (1) decoder for my new Geep that will arrive this week from Loren. i don't even have a DCC setup on my test track yet, but i am undaunted, and really want to get my hands on one of the digi-trax units ASAP.

I have an appointment set for thursday to meet the local NCE dealer at his house to test run the system on his personal large N layout. i can't wait, may come home with the NCE setup.

Please let me know is you are serious about selling one of your decoders.

    Looking forward o your reply..

    Tim:

You could put a LOT of folks at ease if you did. I received 10 of the new DX123M0 on Friday and put 1 in on Sat. Robert is being told by Litchfield station "production hasn't started yet". Clearly something does not add up. See a couple of messages above and you can see I put one in the mail earlier today for Tony B. Should anyone question me having them, check Tony on Friday or Saturday to see if he doen't have one in his mits. For what it is worth, I was at Bruce Petracra's home in Arizona [Litchfield Station] in late August, and Bruce seemed a little surprised about a Digitrax decoder forthcoming as a drop-in for the GP35. Linda, who Robert talked to is Bruce's wife.

    Don and all

For what its worth, I put my order into Tony's Trains for 5 on the 14th of this month and recieved a PDF despatch conformation to UK from them about a week later. If anything turns up I will let you know. Oh and they have taken the money out of my Mastercard. So not sure whats going on, but there may have been a limited number, like MTL and their switches. But that dosent explain why we got/getting ours before Robert!?

    Regards
    Tom

Thanks Don your great, i am looking forward to getting the decoder. I honestly don't have any opinion on this matter as i am just getting into DCC.

My hobby shop freind in Texas at AJC Kids and i were talking today about the Uhlenbrock decoder that Robert Ray metioned. Guy reports that production is underway, and that he personally looked over a manufacturese rep's unit at a recnt dealer show. Guy said the new decoder is very small and should be helpfull to DCC Zer's.

An interesting note on the Uhlenbrock decoder is that supposedly it can recognize both DC an DCC power, and will allow a loco equipted with their decoder to run on both power systems. Prety neat.

Guy said he has ordered them, and that he will let me know when they arrive. I will keep you all posted...

I have seen the Uhlenbrock 73400 decoders on ebay.de, on numerous websites in Germany, and installed in Torsja's locomotive a few months ago heer on Trainboard, so I know they are available.. to someone. I have 9 of them on order from 2 different dealers.

Decoder Dealers are much like Dope Dealers... Selective on who they sell them too.

I sent a reply to cancel. Done with Tony's. Not fair practice of first in first out order handling. Nothing against anyone who alread received their orders, I am happty they got theirs.

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me ordering from Tony's. One time it took over 6 months to get my decoders. I ordered in November so I could have the Lenz LE0511 deocders, and on the Atlas N Scale forum there were guys who ordered theirs in December and got them in December. Mine showed up in June, as I fell victim to a manufacturers backlog.

Not good. This means he is selling everything he can get his hands on and then SERVICE comes last.
