Anyone in the Denver area have railfanning plans for the weekend?:teeth: Sounds like you won't be going!!! What's the talk in Denver? Is this going to be as bad as they say? Will this cause rail tie-ups to the east and west? It's amazing how a storm in one major freight hub can totally scramble the shipping system. Let us know know the storm affects in the Denver metro.

If this one is coming up from the south it could be a good sized storm. Those usually are. I think it has to do with the warm air coming in from So Cal and Arizona hitting the cold air here. But I'm no meteorologist.

I just looked at some of the satellite images. It looks like it push further east of Colorado into Kansas.

Should be a fun drive to and from work...

12" has already hit in the D&S area and the ALBQ Airport is closed. Sounds like I-25 from DENVER to WY will be a wreck by Wednesday afternoon. Live news right now is saying 10-20" for DENVER by Wednesday PM and will continue into Thursday.

Better get my 4X4 warmed up early for this one...

IIRC, the whole state was low on snow for quite a few years..........

Also, anyone wanting to drive east on I40 from ABQ will go no further than Tucumcari- the I-road in the Texas panhandle is so snarled from snow, ice and wrecks that it's been closed. I've been on I-40 in an ice storm with that constant wind- what a nightmare...........

And all we had here in Oregon was hurricane-strength winds that knocked out power.................

This same storm system is forecast for us to have rain starting tonight, become heavy tomorrow and Friday, then taper off to 20-40% through Christmas. It's times like this when I remember why I chose to live on the Gulf rather than in New Hampshire.....

    Here it comes!

Got to work and there is about 2" so far and 50+ MPH winds with a prediction of 2 Feet in the next 36+ hours. Most schools have already closed and a few city goverments as well based on what they are predicting by later today. I-70 from Limon heading to KS is now closed and they think they will be closing more highways soon. Flights at DIA are late and/or cancelled.

Don't know the effect on any of the RR's but I'm sure UP and BNSF will be effected by this as well.

And I love it!! Co-Manager from work called and left a message tonight.
Due to severity of the weather, 3rd shift is cancelled tonight!
No work!! Which is kind of nice of them, because I'd hate to try leaving work in the early AM, IF I even could! So, I go back at 10PM tomorrow night.

The only way you'll be getting RR pics is if the track went 5 ft from your house. :) Thanks for the pics anyway. We had a good storm here Dec. 1. The CN line is about 50 yds out my back door and I couldn't see it. The snow is gone now. :(
