    Without additional info...
Have you rebooted computer and arduino then re-run the installer to see if the black configuration setup window is stable and allows entering Arduino type, com port and motor shield? Have installed using auto installer a number of times on various windows PCs and on slower machines it takes a while. My first install had similar issue cuz I didn't wait for completion and it seemed to result in defective install on PC--a slower N3050 2-1. Dell. Rebooted everything re-ran installer and worked fine. Also have run ex-installer on faster pcs (i5s) and it also seemed to unsurprisingly install EX smoother and faster on Arduinos. Also, depending upon what anti-malware software is installed on pc, a conflict may exist and would temporarily disable then re-run installer.

What motor shield do you have?

If you have Arduino IDE installed and performed manual install. This is my go to method for EX install. Have you tried using serial monitor to help identify? The DCC++EX website is terrific. The links below are very helpful. Don't forget to set the serial monitor's baud rate to 115kbs

Lastly, the guys at DCC++EX are amazing. Help is as good as premium commercial products.

Look for a log file on your computer, something like
    ..\exInstaller-win-x64\status.log

The file might help identify the issue which prevented the installer from working.

You could also install using the Arduino IDE: https://dcc-ex.com/get-started/arduino-ide.html

well update. i finally got it all working. i had it (sketch dcc++ ex) loaded up ok but then no track power. all turned out to be bad wires (broken in a few spots ) making contact then no contact. very frustrating . so RULE # 1 use NEW wire dont trust old wire ever. so all is good now got the W2 moving back and forth . now i can move on to my power supply project for all this. :D
