I'm considering ordering a Intermountion N Scale SD 40-2 locomotive. This would be My first (1st) one since I normally purchase Atlas or Kato Locomotives. Can any one who has purchased a Intermountion locomotive with the DCC decoder installed which DCC decoder manufacturer is used (Non-Sound decoder)?

If you will look at IM website it says that the sound decoder is an ESU Loksound Select Micro and the non-sound is an ESU Lokpilot. The ESU decoders have excellent motor control and IMHO the sound units are better than other brands.

Also, this is that first time Intermountain has offerd factory installed decoders in a N Scale diesel unit. So far, only the Cab Forwards came with the optional sound decoders.

Either way, the choice of ESU decoders is outstanding! They will be getting many orders from me!
