Here is a pic of the PVC silos. The three small ones have pipes from Walthers Refinery Piping Kit. The larger ones have scrap/scratchbuilt elevators/walkways built from styrene from the leftover box. The tops are made from sheet styrene. I put the pvc pipes on teh sheet styrene and used a pencil to trace the diameter. I glued the tops on, and sanded the edges down to blend them in. I painted the silos with white primer spray paint. Gives the smooth pvc pipe a textured look. I scribed some section lines into the smaller silos with the back of an X-acto blade. JMS

    Hi there,
I started a more or less big rebuild of some part of the layout. The area I´m talking about is the Tremblay elevator and siding....
below that area and the helix was a return loop with a hidden siding but it doesen´t work right. So I made some plans to develop a 6 track staging below Chetwynd yard. The entrance to that yard will be the loop below the helix. So I ripped the track out, removed the wood and made some changes to the benchwork.

On top of it will be another change. No more elevator and other buildings. It will be Sundance Siding.More pictures will follow as I´ll preoceed....

    Thanks for looking,
    Cheers,Chris

    Hi there,
Yes,that´s right but I made some progress over the last days on the rebuild project. The Benchwork is finished and I started with the backdrops and tracklaying...
The track in the front will be the line to the north staging. It comes down behind the low backdrop and makes its turn on the lowest level of the helix.
I test installed the wood for Sundance Siding. You´ll get a Idea how the scene will look when it´s been finished.I also testinstalled the fascia.

When the tracks are installed on the staging entrance I´ll start with the scenery for this area....
I hope to make some progress this week to get the construction finished.

    Any comments are very welcome.
    Thanks for looking,
    Cheers,Chris

JMS,yes it´s fun to do that if there if it will work better after the redo...Made some small progress and have the roadbed and track layed down.Started with some rough scenery.I´ll post pictures later when I´m back from work I think...

    Hi there,

Made some progess on the scene with some foam scenery and also tested running a train to the end of line...worked out nice and I think it will be looking nice when the scenery and lights are in.It seems that what I have in mind will be coming out good.

next I´ll have to paint the backdrop and go on with scenery.I´ll go back to the basement later today and hope to get some work done...also have a free weekend so I´ll do some work downstairs. It´s raining outside so time is best used on the railroad.
Still thinking about some changes on the Chetwynd yard but don´t have decided if I´ll do it or not...
Any comments are very welcome, thanks for looking,

    Cheers,Chris

    Hi there,
thanks for the comments.Michael no the curve isn´t superelevated. It´s the perspective of the camera I think.....
So while I was waiting for the plastercloth to dry on this portion of the layout I started to develop a solution for my northend staging problem.....
First thing to do was to remove the small townscene around the corner of Chetwynd....

I made a small plan with Anyrail to for a more prototype scene with the large Planer Mill....
http://binged.it/1t5dPhsThis is a link to a bing photo of the area...
Started to lay down some track and spread some buildings around to see how it will look and I think It´s okay....I also made some minor changes to the tracks on this side of the yard.I´ll post some pictures of that tomorrow.
Most of the buildings of the townscene will get a new place in Dawson Creek...so more to come later....

    Any comments are very appreciated.
    Thanks for looking,
    Cheers,Chris

And this is a picture of the changes of track on the north end of the yard.

That´s all for the moment, more later,

    Hi there,
with some delay I´ll post some progress on my layout.I made a change toand new arrangement to the elevator scene.First I made a drawing with Anyrail for the changes. Here´s the picture of th drawing.
The elevators where placed on the right side of the three benches.I think now it looks much better with more place between them and some additional structures around. Also this will catch more of the prototype look....The end of the tracks will be hidden with a roadbridge and some trees...A small downtown scene with stores, gasstation and farmequipment dealer will also be there.

Around the other curve there is the mill complex and another industrie with some structures...I´m not finished with this scene and will play with those buildings....but made some pictures of it...

So the industrie in the last picture is the one that needs some finetuning...don´t no what kind of company it will be,maybe lumber or hardware or both of it....
Next part will be mounting and wireing the track, adding a fascia and starting with some rough groundwork for scenery....more progress will follow,soon.....

Thanks for looking, any ideas and tips are very appreciated.

    Cheers,Chris

I was snooping through seeing if Tim Horton (the person not the restaurant chain) was following this thread but I don't see any responses from him. Tim is probably one of the most knowledgeable people I know, next to my son, about anything BC Rail related. I'll give you Tim's link, which I'm sure you've seen, and if you have any questions or need a photo of a particular era, you can message me and I'll bounce it over to Tim if he doesn't respond here. I tried to find a "Contact Me" area at his web site but couldn't, it may be there and I just can't find it.

    http://www.bcrdawsonsub.ca/

Also if Tim can't answer your question my son probably can, he used to be BCRailKing here many years ago when he was a very young bunny, now currently a cop and in the Army Reserves and volunteering at a local Army Cadet unit so not into modeling currently.

    Hi there,
Rick, thanks for your offer. In fact Tim´s Dawson Creek subdivision was the reason I started building the same thing in HO.I often follow his trackplans and use his photos he shares on his websitefor reference...I bought some of his pictorials about PGE/BCR.I´m sure there are a lot more questions and the need for pictures when I start building the structures for Dawson Creek....The area I´m currently working on is more freelanced but I hope I could catch the feel and look of that place and time I´m modelling....

    Thanks again,
    Cheers,Chris

    Hi there,
as I wrote in my last post I did some work on the warehouse and added some pikestuff walls and some styrene base and finaly came up with this one....
It will recieve inbound goods by rail in boxcars.Outbound traffic will be empty boxcars...Trucks will be used for delivery....
I´ll add more windows to the grey building as it will be an office part of the complex....I´m only thinking about cutting a second opening for railtraffic to the left of the current opening and adding some length to the track in front of the loadingdock into the building....so not more tracks, only the second track is going into the building,too....
What do you think about.Any suggestions are very appreciated...

And while I was playing around with styrene I thought about working on the street scene in front...I decided to rip out that foam and go with some type of MDF board as a base....so I could lift it out and work on the workbench on the streets and structures....

There will be no sturctures in the background area between the mill complex and the warehouse, only trees and other scenery....maybe the backside of a small structure with a fence or something like that....surrounded by trees and it will be non railserved...it depends on how I will like the look through the buildings on the street scene.

Any comments are very appreciated as always...Any tips and infos are also very welcome because I could only work von photos and not on traveling through time and space to the locations I´m modelling.

    Thanks for looking,
    Cheers,Chris
